Workshops
From time to time workshops are held specifically to discuss marine conservation agreements (MCAs). When organizations collaborating on this toolkit host the workshops, the materials and results will be posted here.
The workshop, A Private Sector Approach: Conservation Agreements in Support of Marine Protection, was held in June 2008 on Bainbridge Island, Washington State, U.S.A. This workshop brought together 55 experts from different organizations and locations from around the globe to help determine how best MCAs could contribute to the protection of the world's oceans and coasts.
The Learning Event, A Private Sector Approach for Practitioners—Conservation Agreements in Support of Marine Protection, was held in October 2008 in Barcelona, Spain, at the World Conservation Congress. This workshop provided training for 40 participants on what MCAs are, how to determine if they can help meet their ocean and coastal conservation goals, and how to plan and proceed with MCA projects.
